This 80GHz millimeter-wave sensor is a high-performance radar module engineered for precise, non-contact liquid level detection. It operates on the principle of Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave (FMCW) radar, enabling it to deliver highly accurate measurements over a significant distance. The sensor's core strengths are its 40-meter long-range capability, exceptional millimeter-level accuracy, and robust performance in challenging environments. Key specifications include a ±5mm accuracy, a narrow ±3° beam angle provided by a pre-installed lens, and a UART (Modbus) communication interface. It is designed for demanding applications such as smart water management, industrial process control, and environmental disaster prevention.
Exceptional Long-Range & High-Precision Measurement
The liquid level sensor provides a remarkable measurement range from 0.15m up to 40m, making it suitable for monitoring large bodies of water like reservoirs and rivers, as well as deep industrial tanks. This extensive range is coupled with a high-precision ranging capability, featuring an accuracy of ±5mm and a resolution of 1mm. This combination ensures that the data collected is both reliable and granular, which is critical for applications requiring precise control and timely alerts.
Focused Detection with Narrow Beam Lens
Equipped with a custom-engineered lens, the radar module emits a highly focused radar beam with a narrow ±3° angle. This focused energy concentration significantly enhances signal directivity and reduces interference from tank walls, agitators, or other surrounding structures. The result is a more stable and accurate reading, even in complex or confined spaces, ensuring the sensor only measures the intended liquid surface.
Robust Performance with Advanced FMCW Technology
Utilizing FMCW modulation, the mmWave detection sensor exhibits superior immunity to environmental interference. Its performance is unaffected by ambient factors such as temperature fluctuations, pressure changes, fog, mist, or dust. An integrated anti-interference algorithm further ensures stable operation in environments with strong reflections or multiple targets. This robustness makes it a dependable solution for outdoor installations and harsh industrial conditions where other technologies might fail.
Non-Contact, Maintenance-Free Operation
The mmWave sensor is installed above the liquid surface, eliminating any physical contact with the medium being measured. This non-contact approach is a significant advantage when monitoring corrosive, hazardous, or high-purity liquids, as it prevents sensor corrosion and fluid contamination. This design not only extends the service life of the module but also minimizes the need for maintenance, reducing the total cost of ownership.
